For anyone who loves animals, it can be deeply upsetting to see them in pain or discomfort. Yet there is also something incredibly rewarding about watching an animal regain comfort, ease, and vitality when the right support is offered.
Assisting animals to recover has been a natural part of my life for many years, and guiding them toward relief and greater wellbeing is something that brings me enormous joy and fulfilment.
Animal Bowen Therapy, better referred to as Equine, Cat and Canine Muscle Release Therapy (EMRT/CCMRT™) is a gentle and respectful therapy that works with the animal’s body to encourage balance and healing.
Witnessing animals relax, move more freely, and return to their natural vitality is one of the most rewarding aspects of the work I do.
EQUINE MUSCLE RELEASE THERAPY (EMRT™)
The Horse’s Story
Horses give so much of themselves. Whether they are performance horses, companions, or simply enjoying life in a paddock, their bodies work hard every day. Like people, they can develop tension, soreness, or physical restrictions, but unlike us they can’t easily tell us where they feel uncomfortable.
Sometimes the signs are subtle; a change in behaviour, stiffness when moving, resistance when being saddled or bridled, or simply not feeling quite themselves. This is where gentle hands and careful observation can make a real difference.
Equine Muscle Release Therapy (EMRT™), also known as Equine Bowen Technique, is a very gentle, non-invasive technique that works with the horse’s muscles and connective tissues. Through a series of soft, precise movements over specific areas of the body, the therapy encourages the horse’s own natural healing responses.
How It Works
The gentle movements used in this therapy help the body release tension in the muscles, tendons, ligaments, and fascia, the connective tissue that supports the whole body. As the body relaxes and resets, circulation and mobility can improve, allowing the horse to move more freely and comfortably.
Rather than forcing change, this therapy simply invites the body to restore its own balance. Most horses respond beautifully, often showing signs of relaxation during the session and moving with greater ease afterwards.
It is a gentle, non invasive therapy that works in partnership with the horse’s natural ability to heal.
How EMRT™ Helps Horses
This therapy can significantly improve a horse’s overall well-being by:
- Enhancing muscular range of motion and joint mobility
- Relieving both acute and chronic musculoskeletal pain
- Improving circulation and lymphatic drainage
- Eliminating toxins and strengthening the immune system
- Accelerating recovery from injury, illness, and surgery
NOTE: Equine Muscle Release Therapy works beautifully alongside traditional veterinary care, supporting your horse’s comfort and wellbeing. It is not intended to replace professional veterinary diagnosis or treatment. If you ever have concerns about your horse’s health, it is always important to seek advice from your veterinarian.
Every horse deserves to feel comfortable in their body. If you feel your horse may benefit and you would like to know more about this gentle therapy, I would be very happy to have a chat and see how I may assist.
Conditions that benefit from EMRT™ include:
- Muscular atrophy
- Difficulty tracking up
- Neck and poll restrictions
- Uneven stride or balance issues
- General soreness and reluctance to canter
- Girthing problems and lameness
- Sore or “cold” back
- Changes in performance or temperament
- Uneven wear of shoes
- Hindquarter, stifle, or shoulder stiffness
- Lactic acid retention
IMPORTANT: EMRT™ complements traditional veterinary medicine but does not replace professional veterinary advice. Always consult your vet if you have any concerns about your horse’s health.
CAT & CANINE MUSCLE RELEASE THERAPY (CCMRT™)
Our dogs and cats are active, curious beings, and like us, their bodies can sometimes become tight, sore, or out of balance. Because animals can’t easily tell us when something hurts, discomfort can often go unnoticed until it begins to affect their movement, behaviour, or overall wellbeing.
Cat & Canine Muscle Release Therapy™ is a gentle, non-invasive hands-on therapy that works with the muscles and soft tissues of the body. Through subtle movements over specific areas, the therapy encourages the body’s natural healing responses and helps restore balance.
By supporting healthy circulation and the movement of fluids within the body, this therapy can help muscles relax, release tension, and improve comfort and mobility. Many animals become deeply relaxed during a session, allowing their bodies the opportunity to reset and recover.
Whether an animal is experiencing stiffness, recovering from strain, or simply needing support to feel more comfortable in their body, this gentle therapy can assist their natural ability to heal and maintain good health.
As both an animal carer and a qualified practitioner, my intention is always to support the comfort, balance, and wellbeing of the animals placed in my care.
NOTE: Cat & Canine Muscle Release Therapy works alongside traditional veterinary care and is not intended to replace professional veterinary advice. If you have any concerns about your animal’s health, it is always important to consult your veterinarian.
